Application Operations Engineer

Application Operations Engineer will be responsible for providing mission critical support , collaborating with a variety of stakeholders to maintain those services, and improving the team's automation and monitoring tools. This role will perform a wide variety of technical troubleshooting and engineering work, including software deployment, software configuration, and system monitoring. You will work on a fully-remote team of highly skilled software and system engineers who will share operational responsibilities as well as welcome your contributions to their development efforts.

Requirements:

Experience in application support

Strong knowledge of Linux and experience supporting production servers

Solid networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, routing, NICs, packet analysis)

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Expertise in Ansible or similar automation tools

Experience working with Prometheus, Splunk, and Grafana

Experience with Git/Github, CI/CD, and package management tools

Strong scripting skills with Bash, Python, Ruby, or similar

A client-focused, service-minded approach and a strong sense of urgency

Ability to handle the occasional high pressure situation with composure

Strong organizational skills, including ability to effectively plan and prioritize

Availability for off-hours support on a rotation, including some nights and weekends

Nice to have:

Previous experience working as a Linux Admin or as a Network Engineer

Previous experience working in data centers

Previous experience with network capture products from vendors such as Endace, Napatech, and Corvil

Previous experience in software development

Responsibilities:

Delivering excellent production support, software deployment and configuration, and proactive monitoring to anticipate and avoid issues before they occur

Identifying gaps in monitoring, automation, and capacity planning; recommending improvements to the team; implementing your solutions

Collaborating with other IT service teams to implement planned infrastructure changes smoothly and transparently

Working with a group that values testable code, lab benchmark tests, and continual improvement of our team
