1149: Senior Systems Engineer – Linux

Our client seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to lead technical design, planning, and implementation of our hardware and operating system strategies. This role will serve as a technical expert with direct influence over the design and implementation of our trading systems. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, have a strong sense of ownership and be driven to provide creative technical solutions to business problems.

Responsibilities include:

Drive efforts to continuously improve and maintain our low latency Linux based trading environments

Develop solutions to automate and improve operational reliability and efficiency

Serve as a technical operating system expert, driving change to adopt new standards, maintain reliability and improve performance metrics

Provide technical expertise and guidance to improve existing hardware strategy including standards, life-cycle periods, vendor management and capacity planning

Stay current with the latest technology trends in the industry; propose, evaluate and implement new solutions

Advanced knowledge of Linux system administration including kernel management, file systems, and networking

Architectural design knowledge of storage and backup technologies

Strong working knowledge of virtualization solutions

Experience with configuration management systems, such as Salt, Ansible, Puppet, Chef

Regular work exposure to Python and Git version control

Previous cloud experience

Exposure to Windows Active Directory and Group Policy

Functional knowledge of SQL and working with databases is desirable

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks with high attention to detail in a fast-paced environment

Motivated to identify and problem solve issues in a timely manner

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to develop and present ideas clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical team members

High degree of flexibility and adaptability; comfortable in a dynamic working environment

Knowledge of the financial industry is preferred
