Our client seeking a Data Center Engineer to suppo

Our client seeking a Data Center Engineer to support our various internal teams by providing physical support, provisionment, maintenance, and asset management of our infrastructure across multiple data center facilities. You will be responsible for troubleshooting and solving infrastructure issues as well as understanding all aspects of the hardware you will be supporting. You will be expected to make judgement decisions on your own while also understanding when to rely on and escalate to the teams you are working with. Attention to detail, organization, and effective communication are all critical to your success.

Primary Responsibilities:

Provisioning and decommissioning of on-site physical infrastructure including servers, network, storage, and the associated cabling

Installation of software including operating systems, drivers, firmware, and updates

Physically organizing and racking equipment such as servers, network, power devices, and appliances

Creating, reviewing, and executing cable maps in detail

Inventory management of required supplies needed for upcoming projects

Ensuring a consistent and clean cable management standard

Coordinating colocation expansions and migrations

Assisting with inventory tracking and logistics management including shipping, receiving, storage, installation, and coordination with 3rd parties

Performing basic repairs to physical devices following known or documented procedures

Traveling to multiple data centers located locally, nationally, and internationally

Maintaining data center documentation

Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent

Previous experience in data center operations or related IT experience preferred but not required

Ability to work 2nd shift from time to time, along with some weekend work as well as participate in after-hours support

Possesses reliable transportation or the ability to utilize rental cars

Demonstrated experience with hardware installation and knowledge of network cabling

Basic network knowledge and experience

Solid understanding of IP addressing and CIDR notation

Ability to manage work and priorities through a ticketing system with manager prioritization

Demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot, communicate and escalate appropriately

Strong attention to detail and strong documentation skills

Dependable and able to work independently

Ability to lift 50 lbs. unassisted
