Database Administrator, Postgres, to lead architec

Database Administrator, Postgres, to lead architectural design, planning, and implementation of our database infrastructure. This role will serve as a technical expert with direct influence over the design and implementation of our database systems, storage infrastructure and related systems. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, have a strong sense of ownership and be driven to provide creative technical solutions to business problems.

Responsibilities:

Work with developers to design and optimize table schemas and queries to solve business problems

Database capacity planning and modeling

Administer, maintain, and upgrade Postgres databases in both on-premise and cloud installations

Design and implement highly available and fault tolerant solutions for multiple Postgres instances

Analyze database and query statistics and implement solutions to optimize performance

5+ years of Postgres database administration experience

Experience in managing schemas, indexing, objects and table partitioning

Experience creating data models, database architecture, and highly available solutions

Develop solutions to automate and improve operational reliability and efficiency

Postgres backup/restore logical and PITR, installation/configuration of backup tools

Participate in the development of a global storage technology roadmap and the establishment of reference architectures and standards in support of our production and development environments

Experience integrating and administering block storage systems

Knowledge of Linux system administration

Understanding of, and experience developing monitoring and reporting tools

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks with high attention to detail in a fast-paced environment

Motivated to identify and problem solve issues in a timely manner

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to develop and present ideas clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical team members

High degree of flexibility and adaptability; comfortable in a dynamic working environment
